At the Crystal Vug, we seek to merge the beauty of California’s minerals and gems with the varied and wide community of individual field collectors and consigners that have had the unique opportunity to discover these treasures that lie just beneath our feet! 

We believe the geologic diversity of California’s mineral and crystals is so vast and amazing it deserves to be showcased! 

Founded out of a years-long love for the thrill of the treasure hunt, and the desire to create connections with the everyday collector, our goal is to provide affordable access to minerals and crystals from California’s most iconic localities and lesser known regions.

Howdy! My name is Jeff Brown, a geologist by training and still a rock collecting kid at heart! Thirty five years ago I was hooked: the thrill of opening up my first vug of quartz crystals here in the California foothills had me “all-in”. Ever since that moment, many-a-vacations have been planned around researching, hunting, digging, and bringing back small and beautiful mementos of California’s beautiful crystal bounty to share with those I love. And now, my sons and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to help share in this with you, through our little shop!
